Hello, I'm Callie and  I'm a Bookaholic...

I've loved reading and making up stories for as long as I can remember, and I've set up this site to share the magical world of books with you.

There's nothing I like better than curling up with a good book; whether it's chillaxing in the sunshine on a hot sandy beach, or snuggled up with a hot chocolate in front of a roaring fire on a cold and blustery day. My favourite stories are where one seemingly small act of chance has devastating consequences for the character, making the reader think it could happen to anybody.

As a book-blogger I get to read lots of amazing books before they’re published, which means you get to know all about them and can grab yourself a copy as soon as they hit the bookshops.  I also make sure I review lots of brilliant books that are already out there - just in case you fancy treating yourself right now! Take a peek into my Book Bag and you'll be able to see some of the fantastic books coming up for review - or the Book Reviews page shows all the books I've already read and loved. I only review books I love, so if a book is listed on this site, you know it's something I recommend.

But reading isn't my only passion, I love making up my own stories too...

'You are what you repeatedly do'

according to Aristotle!

And I believe anybody can do anything

if they learn their craft properly,

and work hard enough for long enough.

I've recently completed a BA (Hons) degree in English Literature with the Open University. As well as studying classic literature (you can see the books I've read as part of my degree pathway on my 'Open Uni' page) I've also completed a separate DipHE with modules in applied linguistics and creative writing. This has fuelled my passion for writing and in September 2021 I will be starting an MA in Creative Writing at the University of Bristol. I can't tell you how excited I am! With modules in contemporary literature and publishing, and taught by experienced published writers, this industry focussed master’s degree is geared towards writers who are serious about publishing their work.

The main piece of work I will be working towards is a psychological thriller with a working title of Follow You. The story is about three girls who knew each other 30 years ago. One night a case of mistaken identity changes not only all their lives but also that of the next generation. Written in first-person from multiple perspectives, past and present timelines gradually converge, revealing a trail of lies and deceit. The story explores the contrasting themes of love and toxic friendship; and how far somebody might go to inflict revenge as well as protect those they love. I've been working on this for quite a while, but it's only recently the story has started to come together.

I'm really enjoying the writing process and am learning new things all the time. As I grow and develop as a writer, I will share my writing journey over on my 'Becoming a Writer' blog. You can follow my blog by clicking on the link below and I'd love to see you over on Twitter, Instagram, or Facebook sometime (links at the top of any of the pages on this site).

So grab yourself a coffee and come and join me on my writing journey.

Thanks for dropping by and I hope to see you here again soon.

Callie x
